31 December 2013.

It’s finally the last day of 2013! Thought I will do a summary of my 2013 since it’s a totally different year this year.

Last December, I left my comfortable job as a Software Engineer so as to pursue something out of my comfort zone, i.e. being an Event Executive. Of ‘cos for the first 2 months of this year, I was basically slacking off at home, cooking almost every other day and trying my best to be a good “housewife”.  (。・ω・。)

In the meantime, I was also sending out a lot of resume, every time hoping and praying that someone will actually call me down for an interview. I even tried sending out emails to Wedding Planner companies to see if they are looking for anyone new. I did received some replies, one of them even told me that I should go for certain courses to get myself more qualified before looking for a job in this field. And that I should also expect a huge pay-cut, almost half of what I used to earn.

I honestly thank him from the bottom of my heart for giving me his honest opinions. I was actually already prepared for a huge pay-cut and was just looking for someone to give me a chance to do events planning.

And then the opportunity came. I got a call from a guy who said he was from this events company and he’s interested to invite me down for an interview. My heart almost stopped. I was pretty excited and agreed to the date of interview. I was pretty nervous preparing for this interview since it has been years since I last had my interview. So I prepped some questions at home and even went through them with Feng to see if there are any other questions I should be asking. Yes, I was THAT nervous for this interview. !!(•’Д’• ۶)۶

So the day came for the interview. Really small office of not more than 10 staff in it. Waited a while before the boss “interviewed” me. Why interview in inverted commas? ‘Cos it was more like a chit-chat session than an interview. He actually shared a lot with me as I shared a lot with him as well. Letting him know that I have zero knowledge of events planning and I just want to try something different from what I have been doing. Blah blah blah. So on and so forth. He even shared with me the pay scheme of the company, together with the commission. Before I left, he has already offered me the job, to which I told him I will need to think about it first before letting him know. Deep down, I know I should never miss this opportunity. No one out there seems to be giving me the chance to try, so why not just give this a chance, I told myself.

After giving Feng a call and some consideration for the next few days, I gave the boss a call to say I will take up the offer. And that’s how I have stepped out of my comfort zone and the rest is history. Thanks to my boss, Albert, for giving me the rare opportunity to try out this job and also believing that I will do well in it. (o´ϖ`o)♬

Summary of 2013

Being an Event Executive gives me the chance to do things I have never done before, i.e. managing clients and making cold calls! At this point in time, I have already have a few clients under me and I was glad to make this move. I actually felt happier and more fulfilling doing what I am doing now. Every project is a challenge with the ups and downs, but I always have my colleagues and my boss who are all there to give the support I need. Most importantly, I have Feng who is giving me all the encouragements and support when I got home from a tiring day of “fighting the war” with a client.

Every single card that Feng has given me this year is full of love and encouragement, especially the one that says Don’t Worry. Every Thing Is Going To Be Amazing. I was super touched when I got this card, after reading his message for me in it. Thanks Feng! (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡

Summary of 2013

Well being the year of 2013, the most happening event of the year has got to be the McDonalds Fairy Tale Hello Kitty series! So happening that we even have to “deploy” everyone in the office to different branches in Singapore just to try to get a certain Hello Kitty, i.e. the evil Singing Bone. Eventually I got it from Taobao anyway and that’s how I completed the whole series. But I must say it was really great fun to do silly things like that with your colleagues, boss and lady boss! Imagine the Whatsapp group chat being really active at night as everyone was giving their updates of the certain location. (◎´〇`◎)ノ

Summary of 2013

Of ‘cos the saddest thing that actually happened not too long ago for this year was when my paternal grandmother passed away. I was sure this was the best arrangement for her in consideration that she was actually suffering from long-term mental illness after missing my late grandfather too much since he passed away many years ago. Not forgetting everytime I see her bony figure, I had to control my tears as it was too painful to see her so weak especially when she used to be so strong in the past. I can’t say I am not sad but I believe she is happier now, finally re-uniting with my late grandfather and no more pain and suffering.

And this year marks my 10th Getting-Together Anniversary with Feng! Somehow I can’t believe that it has been 10 years since we got together. Still so much in love, still acting silly and behaving immaturely! (*˘︶˘*)♡✧✧✧✧✧

With that, I have briefly summarised my lovely 2013! I believed most of my downs for this year came mostly from certain clients though with every tough client, I have grown sort-of stronger in a way. Looking forward to a better 2014, earn big bucks and be merry! Everyone have a Happy New Year!!! ҉ ٩(๑>ω<๑)۶
