Holiday Inn Resort Batam – Our New Land of Small Paradise (Part I)
Oh dear me, I have been missing from the blogosphere from CENTURIES and now am really wondering how I should go about starting this blog entry. (´｡･-･｡｀)
So anyway, here goes my first blog entry for the year of 2014! c(・ω・`c⌒っ
Having change my job early last year to one that only pays me half the salary I used to get, Feng and I got to think of holiday locations where we can chill and relax but yet not too expensive. After some looking around online, we decided to go with Batam since we just need to take a ferry as compared to many other locations where the price of air tickets is going to burn a hole in our pocket. (/. .\)
So where in Batam you might wonder. Or not, since I already posted the name of the resort we went as the title! Yes, we decided to give Holiday Inn Resort Batam a try since it has the highest number of recommendation for their in-house spa. (●´ϖ`●)
We tried to book a room for 3D2N through their website but apparently the dates we wanted were no longer available! Σ (°ㅂ° *)!! So horror of all horrors, I decided to email Holiday Inn to enquire about their spa package as we were really keen to try their award winning spa even if it means we are to stay at another resort. And surprise surprise!!! The room reservation personnel replied and told us that rooms are still available during that period and he/she had lovingly attached their room packages for me as reference. \(*´∀`*)/
Taking the ferry to Batam at Harbourfront is always a bitch ‘cos the holding area before we board the ferry is ALWAYS CROWDED and there is no queuing system, which means first-come-first-serve trying to get through the gantry, walk to our ferry and “chope” a good seat on board the ferry. ╮(๑•́₃•̀๑)╭
Upon reaching the Batam Waterfront ferry terminal, that’s where the torture starts. The custom is really really really really really really REALLY SLOW! It is probably one of the most ridiculously slow custom, besides Bali, that we have ever experienced. We waited for around 45 minutes before clearing the custom. Words can’t describe how fed-up we were waiting for the slow queue to move. (╬ •̀ ^•́ )
Anyway once we clear the custom, all was speedy as there is always someone there holding a Holiday Inn or Harris Resort board so you know who to look for to ask about the shuttle bus to the resort. The bus ride to Holiday Inn Resort Batam was so speedy that we had hardly warm the seats before we need to alight. （ ´ ω ` ）
Upon arrival, there was someone serving all the alighting guests a welcome drink and nice cold wet towel as we walked into the lobby to wait for our turn to check-in. The receptionist was pretty friendly and the whole check-in process was rather smooth as well. After which we were being pointed the direction to walk to for the block that we are living in.
‘Nuff said. Time for the photos! (σ≧▽≦)σ
Umbrellas are nicely placed at a corner so anyone can use them during wet weather or probably shield yourself from the sun, though no one should EVER do that at a resort! Everyone should be sun tanning!!
Our dining area! I failed to mention this just now but we were actually given a free upgrade upon check-in and hence we have HUGE room that includes a dining area, a living room and a bedroom!（0^ω^0）
Who needs Cup Noodles and In Room Bento when Holiday Inn Resort Batam has some really yummy room service food! No worries, I will be showing some photos of them later! Be patient~
Found an envelope on the table, thinking that it was addressed to Feng as a form of welcoming us to the resort. But… I think it was for the former guest in this room? (๐•̆ ·̭ •̆๐)
And here we are at the living room area! Nice and spacious and we even have a balcony! But we hardly use this area since there is also a TV in the bedroom. Wasted space for us but great for big families I guess!
Finally we have reached the nice and cosy bedroom with attached bathroom! The bathroom is nothing fanciful and with the essentials. But nothing to pick on for the room, everything looks great though you can definitely spot the wear and tear around some areas but nothing too major that screams “MAINTENANCE PLEASE!”.
And how can we miss out our dearest most well-travelled BB and GG! *+.(*´▽`)。+*
Okay, photos overload. I shall leave the food and spa to the next blog entry! Let me take break from here. Which also means you wouldn’t be reading about my full review until the next blog entry which I hope is by… Tonight? (ٽ)
